Resources on: More, Earn and Growth
Why am I not getting it right?" you ask. "I've done what I've been told, but things aren't working out the way they should."
Hang in there!
"I seem to be my own worst enemy!" you cry "I know what you say is right - I MUST sit down and set goals . . I have, in fact, got things I want to do, need to do,
and yet . . . and yet . .
"I decide just to play one or two games of Solitaire, or Free Cell - and then suddenly one or two hours have passed . . . "I've relaxed alright - right into the state of idleness – and guilt."
"What's the matter with me?"
Nothing - you are normal.
Everybody goes through the same thing in different ways. This is where you have to decide - and do!
You have to discipline yourself. Otherwise you might as well go back to working for a boss!
We are inspired by the tales of those who have made it to the top. Unfortunately, most of them look at the various "work-steps" that work for them, and brought them success.
We ordinary mortals listen to them avidly, and eagerly rush out to do the same. And then we are disappointed when we don't get the same results. They didn't speak of the problems they ran into, and how they overcame them.
"History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats" - (Unknown)
Everybody has problems - they are a part of life. It's how you respond to them, how you handle difficulties that will determine whether you will make a success of it, or not.
Always remember you, and nobody else, - yes, you are the one who decides how you will respond.
And your choice will either result in your becoming a better person - or a bitter one.
Tom Hopkins said, "No one limits your growth but you. If you want to earn more, learn more. That means you'll work harder for a while, that means you'll work longer for a while. But you'll be paid for your extra effort with enhanced earnings
down the road."
Don't allow yourself to become discouraged - if you do enough of the right things, in the right way, enough of the time,` you will be successfull.
Rudyard Kipling knew what he was saying when he wrote in his famous poem "If . ."
"If you can watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools; Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!" (or a Woman, my daughter!!)
You need two things - courage and vision.
For without a clear, burning vision to give you that go-through spirit, you will not be able to hang in there, until you break through.
Elbert Hubbard wrote "Genius is only the power of making continuous efforts. The line between failure and success is so fine that we scarcely know when we cross it. So fine that we are often on it, and don't know it. How many a man has thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort and a little more patience would have achieved success."
"Well, this sounds like good advice to me," you say, "but where do I go from here?"
Sit down now, take a piece of paper, and list just two things that you are going to do before you go to bed tonight.
"But it's already time for me to go to bed!" you protest.
They don't have to be big jobs - in fact, make sure they are ones that you are able to accomplish without major effort. What you are doing is like starting to exercise - start easy, and gradually increase the resistance once your muscles have become accustomed to working.
You need to get into the habit of setting goals, and achieving them. And then setting new ones, and achieving those. And then setting new ones, and achieving those. And then setting new ones, and achieving those.
Get the picture?
You will be grinning too when you have the wonderful sense of fulfillment, that glorious satisfaction of "What I set out to do, I did!"
